Estrategia transdisciplinaria aplicada a la identificación de obesidad abdominal. Policlínico “Andrés Ortiz”. 2023

Abstract

The training process of the doctor in Cuba, from its beginnings to the present, corresponds to his future mode of professional action at the level of Primary Health Care, where attention to the individual, the family and the community is carried out in the activity of education at work, where student identifies, assesses and transforms his or her health status based on the scientific training that is proposed from the basic- clinical link and with a clinical- epidemiological- social approach. With the objective of identifying abdominal obesity in the population served, a development investigation is proposed in relation to a transdisciplinary teaching strategy at the Andres Ortiz Polyclinic, in the 2023- 2024 academic year of the second year of the Medicine degree, in the medical offices where they complete the on-the-job education of the subject Health Prevention. Among the main results, almost 60 percent of those who were measured had abdominal obesity, with a higher incidence in the group aged between 70 and 79 years and also female; the classification very high cardiovascular risk predominated in women. The application of the strategy for the identification of the abdominal obesity is concluded as effective, so its generalization to all clinics of the institution and the municipality is proposed, taking into account the benefits from the social to the economic.
