Abstract

Metabolic Syndrome is a set of risk factors that include abdominal obesity, insulin resistence, high blood pressure and atherogenic dislipidemia. A cross-sectional epidemiological investigation was carried outn 2020, office 7 of La Hata, with the objective of determining the prevalence of the Metabolic Syndrome in the approach to abdominal obesity in the adult population. From a population of 838 patients aged 20 years and over, the variables age, sex, waist circumference, blood pressure and fasting blood glucose andtriglyceride values were studied. The main results were a predominance of the 50 to 59 year old group, in woman, a third of patients with abdominal obesity presented Metablic Syndrome, with high blood pressure levels and hypertriglyceridemia as the main criteria. It is concluded that the presentation of abdominal obesity and the Metabolic Syndrome are common, with a predominance of high blood pressure levels as a diagnostic criterion in the population that was studied, therefore, more vigorous preventive and control actions are required.
