The article focuses on the modeling of ammonium nitrate supply chains and the chain of industrial explosives, explosive initiating media and explosive agents in Cuba, taking the material flow as a central element. It also aims to achieve the definition and characterization of each chain with its links, main actors and critical variables. Both representations are made separately, but with the aim of promoting integration in the planning and control of the logistics networks studied. The analysis is carried out for these products as a whole because they maintain a close relationship and their impact and importance is of great relevance for the Cuban industry.
The research is characterized, in this first stage, by applying a qualitative methodology and by using interviews with experts and a descriptive study as methods, using basic engineering tools and techniques such as Microsoft Visio for graphic representation and elaboration of schemes.
Among the results obtained, when mapping the chains, it is detected that the ammonium nitrate chain has 25 levels and the industrial explosives chain is made up of 14 links divided into 23 levels. In both cases, raw material suppliers, airport facilities, transport providers, the production process and customers. The critical actors and variables were also identified, highlighting the October Revolution Fertilizer Production Company as the most critical supplier for the correct production chain.
