Importancia del estudio de la homeopatía en la formación estomatológica en Cuba. Una revisión integradora

Abstract

Introduction: Homeopathy as a complementary therapy has gained ground in global healthcare systems. In Cuba, its inclusion in medical education responds to policies for the integration of natural therapies; however, its teaching in dentistry requires greater intentionality and systematization. Objectives: To argue the importance of increasing knowledge about homeopathy in Cuban dentistry training, based on its scientific foundation, clinical applicability, and professional perception. Method: An integrative review (2015–2023) in PubMed, SciELO, Medline, and MINSAP documents, selecting clinical studies, reviews, regulations, and curricula. Development:

In Cuba, homeopathy is taught to a limited extent in the Dentistry program. Studies support the effectiveness of its application in controlling anxiety generated by dental treatments, argue the benefits it provides to patients and professionals, and also confirm the need to expand knowledge about this complementary therapy. Conclusions: It is of great importance to increase knowledge about homeopathy in Cuban dental training as it represents a valid strategy for expanding therapeutic options, especially in contexts with limited resources. Homeopathy in medical education should be approached with scientific rigor, integrating the best available evidence and promoting local research that evaluates its effectiveness in the Cuban population. Homeopathy can offer relevant clinical solutions to the current challenges of Dentistry in Cuba.
